Water Testing London

Water Testing London.

At Water Damage, we utilise a variety of methods for the purpose of finding out where water has originated from; leak detection. Whilst thermal imaging, ultrasound, density mapping, gas tracing, and dye testing are critical tools, water sample testing is regarded as the most precise way of evaluating the category of water that has caused the damage.

Why do I Need a Water Sample Test?

The purpose of water sample testing is to ascertain whether the fluid that has resulted in the visible water damage or flooding has the identical or similar contents as another source of fluid/ water within the building. For example, if you had a basement filled with an inch of water and wanted to learn where the water had come from, in the instance that the conventional leak detection procedures were not giving categorical answers, we would obtain a sample of the basement water, and compare it to the tap water, rain water, and any other source of water within the property. We would test each sample to verify similarity and deliver a water sample test report.

What Do You Look For in a Water Sample Test?

Whilst basic water sample testing will flag up nitrates, nitrites, and phosphates that would automatically demonstrate the sample as contaminated with sewage or waste water, we would also test for the presence of chemicals that may be evident in soap; this would help us ascertain whether the sample leads us back to the washing machine, dishwasher, or bathroom. Having said that, all water sample tests carried out would involve testing of the following quantities and variables within the sample; phosphates, nitrates, sodium, alkalinity, ph, and Langelier Saturation Index. These would be checked in all samples for comparison, and reports would be offered and interpreted for each sample.

How to Book a Water Sample Test

Booking a water sample test is straightforward. Contact us by phone or email and explain the situation; we will be able to provide information as to the amount of samples you may need to have taken, the procedure would take in your circumstances, and what the costs would be.

How Long Does a Water Sample Test Take?

Following your instruction of our company, we would attend site, complete our risk assessment form, obtain the samples, and return the samples to our laboratory. Testing typically takes 7-10 days for the most accurate results; on the spot testing can be done, but the the test results are qualitative at best; for quantitative results, time must be granted for the water samples to progress through the testing process.

What About On-site Water Testing?

Quantitative testing is uncomplicated and straight forward; we can be instructed to under-take these types of tests during any site visit. Quantitative water sample tests will not, however, meet insurance or forensic requirements, and therefore are only useful for instant, limited, classification of the type of water damage being experienced.
